CAIRO: The Agouza Misdemeanors Court reduced the one-year sentence against Reda el-Fouly over “inciting debauchery” charges to six month, Youm7 reported.

On June 28, Fouly who belly- danced suggestively in an amateur YouTube music video wearing in a low cut dress and shaking her breasts at the camera in close-up was sentenced to a year of hard labor in prison and another year under police surveillance for the said charge.

The court also reduced the one-year prison sentence of the cameraman Ramadan Rizk to three months. However, the rulings can still be appealed before the Court of Cassation.

Involved in the case is an American-Egyptian director Wael Elsedeki who, on June 28, was also sentenced in absentia to one year in prison. Elsediki travelled to Tunisia shortly after the clip started to stir controversy; meanwhile, Fouly was arrested at a café in Cairo’s district of Mohandeseen.

Dubbed as “Hands off,” the video has been viewed more than 2 million times on YouTube. It is about a girl who enjoys being harassed in Cairo’s busy metro.

On May 12, Elsedeki, who also appeared in the clip, posted an audio-only version of the song, while three days earlier, he posted an ad on his Facebook account seeking a woman “with a nice voice to record a duet with me, she must be from Cairo with a good sense of humor and good appearance.”
