CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi attended Monday the graduation ceremony of the 82nd batch of the Air Force academy, Youm7 reported Sunday.
Present at the ceremony were Minister of Defense Sedki Sobhi, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Mahmoud Hegazy, Commander of the Egyptian Air Force Younis al-Masry alongside Egyptian Armed Force commanders.
The three Rafale fighter jets Egypt bought from France, along with 250 other warplanes, participated in an air show during the ceremony. Egypt’s flags were seen placed on the warplanes during the show.
On July 20, France delivered the first three Rafale fighters to Egypt, among the 24 Rafale air jets $5.9 billion deal signed in February, Youm7 reported.
The deal, which will upgrade Egypt’s arsenal, comes amid security threats in the Sinai Peninsula and the rise of Jihadist groups in the Egypt-Libya borderline.
