CAIRO:  Two explosions have rocked Cairo’s northern district of Nasr City late Monday causing power outage in the area and leaving no casualties, Youm7 reported.

At the intersection of Youssef Abbas and Salah Salem streets, three men got out of a car and threw a trash sack; few minutes later, the explosions took place, eye witnesses told Youm7 Monday.

Meanwhile, officials from the General Authority of Civil Defense Protection said that two bombs were planted in an electricity generating booth in Youssef Abbas Street.

The area has been cordoned by security forces and combed in an anticipation of possible terror attacks, they added.  Saleh Salem is a highway leads to the Cairo International Airport north of Cairo.

The explosions occurred ahead of August 6 inauguration ceremony of the new Suez Canal project. Security forces across the country are in high alert.

On July 16, a policeman was injured when an explosive device was detonated next to residential building in Heliopolis.
