CAIRO: Governor of Alexandria Hany al-Meseiry honored Friday a cleaner after he was injured in the face by broken glass in trash he was collecting, Youm7 reported.
Ramadan Kamel endured 47 stitches in the face after broken glasses and plates inside a garbage bag wounded him as he was lifting it in Bakous area in Alexandria. He reported the incident to the police.
Meseiry considered the incident as “misbehavior” on part of some citizens.
Growing amounts of residential waste has been a problem in Egypt, as only a certain number of tons may be collected from trash cans in streets, according to the government’s contract with private cleaning companies.
