CAIRO: A major fire has erupted Sunday afternoon at paint factory in the 6 October City south of Cairo, and little is known about how it started, Youm7 reported.

Twelve firefighters, with the help of three reserve water tanks, have rushed to the site to control the fire before destroying the whole factory.

No casualties have been reported.

On June 28, a fire broke out in a 3-storey furniture factory in an industrial zone in al-Obour city north of Cairo killing 25 labors and wounding 25 others, health ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar told Youm7.

The cause of the fire remains unknown but an anonymous security source told Youm7 that it was due to “an explosion of a gas tank of an air compressor machine inside the factory.” Wooden materials and chemicals inside the factory caused its fast spread, according to the source.
