CAIRO: Egypt and India consider purchasing underwater equipments and diving system from Russia’s TETIS PRO, General Director of the company Alexei Kaifadzhyan told Ria Novosti newspaper Wednesday.
“There is a need for our products in Egypt and India, which was confirmed by [Russia’s arms exporter] Rosoboronexport, but so far these plans are at the stage of discussing and preparing to sign a contract,” Kaifadzhyan was quoted by Sputnik. However, there are no further details on the sale process.
Tetis Pro is one of Russian leading companies in manufacturing, designing, supplying diving firefighting and rescue equipment for the Russian Navy, according to the website of the Russian Navy.
In March, it has been reported that Russia will supply Egypt with an Antey-2500 anti-ballistic missile system and training for more than $1 billion in 2016.
The relations between both sides, particularly the military ones, have been strengthened since February when the then Defense Minister Abdel Fatah al-Sisi had discussed weapons deals valued at $2 billion.
President Sisi visited Moscow in May to take part in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Russia’s Victory Day, The day marks the Soviet Union’s victory over the Nazi Germany at part of the World War II.
Both countries reached several agreements in agricultural, industrial fields; Russia will build Egypt’s first nuclear power plant; meanwhile, they agreed to establish a Russian industrial zone near Suez Canal.
