CAIRO: Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 (CCHE) has won the Cerner’s Achievement and Innovation Award as the best inspiring model that implements medical information systems in the Middle East.
Cerner granted the hospital the award for being the world’s fastest and most frequent user to insert the patients’ information on the Cerner system, which helps reduce patients’ waiting time, according to Gomhuria Online.
A delegation from the hospital has participated in the sixth annual meeting of Cerner Middle East, in which the company grants its Innovation and Achievements Award to the best users of its applications. The meeting was held in Dubai in early June, where Haitham Alam, medical applications manager at CCHE; Wisam Ahmed, scientific research nurse, and Dr. Walid Magdy of the department of scientific research presented their work using the Cerner system.
In May, Dr. Sherif Abul Naga, Vice President of 57357 Hospital, said the percentage of patients cured in the past two years amounted to 74.8%, dding that there is a future plan to increase the cure rate to 85%, according to Youm7.
In 2010, the hospital applied the latest health information technology (HIT) solutions from Cerner Corporation to provide intensive care and improve patient safety levels, according to Youm7.
CCHE is a pediatric cancer hospital located in El Sayeda Zeinab in Cairo, with a mission to cure children with cancer free of charge regardless of race, creed or financial status, according to Cerner.
Cerner Middle East has been working with more than 190 client facilities in the Middle East, offering health care services including theoretical and training, health care data analysis, transaction processing for physician practice and employer health plan third-party administration services, according to their website.
