Cairo: Lieutenant Mohamed Gad, a police officer of Ismailia Security Directorate, was shot dead during a clash between him and two unidentified assailants in Kafr Shukr town, Qalyoubia.
A clash occurred between the police officer, his brother, Islam Gad, and the two men because of their illegal speeding. Intensified efforts are currently underway to arrest the offenders.
Preliminary investigations into the incident have indicated that the two men were traveling on a a motorcycle on an illegal speed outside the victim’s house, where his relatives were invited for dinner. The assailants started shooting as a number of the invited car owners tried to move their cars, thinking they were trying to catch them, an official said to Youm7.
The shooting killed Mohamed and injured his brother Islam. The police officer’s body was transferred to the hospital.
The family of Lieutenant Gad surrounded the Department of Kafr Shukr and Banha University Hospital to try to pressure security leaders to intensify efforts to arrest the assailants, an official source told Masrawy News.
On Wednesday, unidentified assailants on a motorbike also shot Moustafa Ayoub dead, a low-ranking tourism police officer on his way home from work, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
