CAIRO: A bomb, planted on train tracks in a village in Egypt’s Delta town of Zaqaziq went off early Friday morning causing the rails to break and leaving a 20-centimeter-deep hole, Youm7 reported.

The blast has caused a 30-centimeter-gap in one of the rails, but no causalities were reported.

Technicians and engineers are working to fix the damage to avoid any delay in train traffic.

Public utilities including electricity transformations, transmission towers, mobile operators, restaurants and trains, have been targeted by bomb attacks since the 2013 ouster of President Mohamed Morsi.

The Ministry of Electricity, the most targeted sector, has previously announced the cost to fix damages caused by such violent attacks have burdened its budget.
