CAIRO: Egypt has closed the Rafah border crossing Friday after it had been open for four days, Al Mal newspaper reported Friday.

Since it was reopened in both directions on Monday, over 6,000 Egyptians and Palestinians crossed, Youm7 reported Thursday. However, the Egyptian authorities have not indicated when the crossing would be opened again.

In October 2014, the crossing was closed indefinitely by the Egyptian authorities in both directions after coordinated attacks that killed 27 armed forces personnel in Sheikh Zuwayed.

The crossing, which is the only way for Palestinians to move in and out of the Gaza Strip, was last opened in June to allow students and humanitarian cases to enter Egypt.

Over 600 tons of cement and 66 tons of aggregate, needed for Gaza construction after being almost destroyed due July Israel-Palestinian war, have entered into the strip during the four days, an Egyptian official at the crossing told Youm7 Tuesday.
