23 Egyptians deported from Italy over “trespassing territories”

CAIRO: Cairo International Airport received Thursday night 23 Egyptians deported from Italy over attempted trespassing into its territories, Youm7 reported.

The deported Egyptians have been reportedly arrested off Italian coasts; they have acknowledged to have attempted infiltrating into Italy through a fishing boat before they were arrested by Italian coast guards.

They arrived in Egypt on board of an Egypt Air flight accompanied by a number of security personnel who belong to the company.

Their papers will be finalized after they are investigated by security agencies to check on their criminal records, Interior Ministry official said.

A total of 34 Egyptians were deported from Italy for violating the residency law last week.

Egypt has received waves of deported Egyptians from Italy a few times this year, and has foiled dozens of illegal attempts to travel to Europe and Libya.

The Egyptian and Italian authorities cooperate to clamp down on illegal emigration. However, due to the security vacuum in Libya; Egypt’s neighboring country from the west. According to the U.N., 85 percent of the 167,184 migrants who reached Europe in 2014 had traveled from the Libyan coast.
