26 Egyptians deported from Saudi

CAIRO: A total of 26 Egyptians arrived in Cairo Airport Saturday after being deported from Saudi Arabia due to their expired residency, Youm7 reported.

The deportees flew from Jeddah on the Saudi Airlines with travel documents issued by the Egyptian consulate. They confirmed to the authorities at the Cairo Airport that their visas had expired.

Some Egyptian workers stay in Saudi Arabia despite their expired visas in hopes of finding a job.

On Aug. 25, 32 Egyptians were deported from the Kingdom, and 52 others were deported on Aug. 8 for the same reason.

According to a report issued by the Saudi Labor Department in 2014, the number of Egyptians working in the Kingdom was estimated at 968,000 at the end of 2013, representing about 40 percent of the total Arab expatriate workforce in Saudi Arabia.

In 2013, Saudi Authoritiesdeported about 200,000 foreign workers in four months due to illegal residency.
