CAIRO: The Agouza Misdemeanors Court sentenced two belly dancers Shakera and Bardis to six months in prison each over charges of “inciting debauchery,” Youm7 reported Thursday.
During the investigations, the dancers confessed to performing “sexual” gestures as per their video clips producers’ request.
In July, the duo was arrested at two different night clubs after a number of lawyers had filed complaints that they had produced suggestive video clips.
A few hours after being detained at Agouza police station, both dancers confessed that they produced illegal video clips.
Under enquiries conducted by the Public Morality Department of the Ministry of Interior, both dancers did not perform “an artistic act but debauched act.”
Singers’ Syndicate nominee Hani Shaker told Youm7 what have been performed by those dancers is not “artistic.”
In June, another belly dancer, Reda al-Fouly, was sentenced to one year in jail on charges of “inciting debauchery” when she appeared in a video talking about girls who like to be harassed in the Cairo metro.
