CAIRO: Egypt’s Minister of Defense Sedki Sobhy met his Chadian counterpart Benaindo Tatola Saturday, Youm7 reported Saturday.

Tatola visits Egypt on the head of top delegation from Chad to discuss the latest developments nationally and regionally and the mutual efforts exerted by both countries to support the security and stability in the African continent.

The meeting also tackled ways to promote military cooperation between the two countries.

It was attended by a number of top Egyptian Armed Forces officials and Chad’s Ambassador to Egypt.

In August 2014, Cairo hosted a conference with Libya’s neighbors, including Chad, to find a solution for the Libyan security crisis.

The outcome of the meeting called for collecting arms and weapons from Libyan militias, reaching a cease-fire agreement between conflicting groups, drafting a new constitution and conducting inclusive dialogue for the recognition of the legitimacy of the new Libyan Parliament.

Moreover, in April 2014, Chadian President Idriss Deby called for restoring Egypt’s seat at the African Union, praising steps taken by Egypt to fulfill the transitional roadmap, saying its completion will help the country restore its seat in the pan-African body, reported by MENA.

The Chadian president said he expected Egyptian-African relations to “return to their golden age,” and called for enhancing cooperation with Egypt in all fields.
