CAIRO: Resigned Minister of Agriculture Salah Helal was sentenced to 15 days detention pending further investigations over accusations of bribery, Youm7 reported Wednesday.
The Minister and other three accused, including the alleged briber, face accusations of requesting and taking bribes for facilitating the sale of 2,500 acres in Wadi al-Natroun city in Delta’s Beheira Governorate, according to a statement from the National Security Prosecution.
The accused were arrested Monday after Helal resigned; a media gag was imposed on the investigations.
Some media outlets reported that seven Ministers were involved into the bribery case; Minister of Health Adel al-Adawy denied Monday his relation with the case saying that he has no land in Beheira.
