CAIRO: A total of 48 suspected militants were killed and 22 bombs dismantled since the “Right of the Martyr” military operation started in North Sinai Monday, military spokesperson Mohamed Samir said in a statement Thursday.
The number of killed suspected militants in the operation has reached 134. The operation, carried out by Egyptian air and naval forces, aims to achieve “full control” on Arish, Rafah and Sheikh Zuwayed, Samir said.
Meanwhile, two civilians were killed Friday after a shell fell on their house in North Sinai’s city of Sheikh Zuwayed.
For allegedly being used by militants, two mini-trucks, 33 plateless motorbikes, 91 shacks from which militants allegedly launch their attacks, three depots of supplies and food used by militants and a tunnel opening were destroyed.
