CAIRO: South Sudan has allocated Egypt a 300-acre parcel of land on which establish a livestock farm, announced outgoing Minister of Irrigation and Water Resource Hossam Moghazy Sunday.

The contract was initialed Thursday and is due to be signed Tuesday to establish the farm in South Sudanese city of Wau in light of “cooperation and integrity between Egypt and Nile Basin countries,” Moghazy added.

The farm will produce animal and dairy products using automated milking machines and modern industrial systems of nutrition and feeding, Moghazy continued.

“The farm provides about 50 jobs for the South Sudanese via raising about 500 head of dairy cattle,” he said.

Cairo has also contracted with Juba on establishing a dam on South Sudanese Wau River with maximum storage capacity of 2 billion cubic meters.

The dam would provide drinkable water to 500,000 people, cultivate around 40,000 acres, and provide 10.4 megawatt of electricity annually.

Egypt is carrying out several projects in South Sudan, including the digging of 30 underground wells for about 500,000 citizens and a pumping station built in Wau by Egypt’s Arab Contractors company.
