CAIRO: Civil defense forces contained a huge fire that erupted in wood kiosks in the Anfoshy area, which contains many ship-building shops, west Alexandria governorate, Youm7 reported Monday.
Investigations revealed that a short circuit started the blaze, which was extinguished before reaching any ships. No casualties were reported.
In August, another fire was contained after erupting in four-story plastics warehouse in Cairo’s northern district of Shubra el-Khema.
No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown; meanwhile, Qalyubia governorate security Chief Saeed Shalaby said a preliminary investigation indicates that a short circuit has caused the fire.
On Aug. 22, a fire broke out in the eight-story building of El-Ataba call center in downtown Cairo leaving no casualties among civilians while a police officer was injured due to suffocation.
Also on Aug. 9, a large fire erupted at a paint factory in the 6 October City south of Cairo, the cause of which is still unknown.
