CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi offered Saturday his condolences to Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum over the death of his son Emir Rashid, said Egyptian Presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef in a statement.
“The presidency offers sincere condolence and sympathy to his Highness the Ruler of Dubai and the people of the brotherly UAE for the death of the deceased, and prays to God Almighty to bestow his mercy and eternal peace on him,” the statement read.
Sheikh Rashid, the eldest son of Dubai’s ruler, passed away Saturday morning after he suffered a heart attack. Dubai has announced a three-day mourning period and the UAE flag will be flown at half mast, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM.)
However, work in government departments and institutions will continue as normal during the mourning period, Dubai Ruler’s Court announced.
