CAIRO: In his 179th day in space, American Astronaut Scott Kelly captured a breath- taking photo of Egypt’s Nile and tweeted it on Sept. 22.

“Day 179. The #Nile at night is a beautiful sight for these sore eyes. Good night from @space_station! #YearInSpace,” Kelly wrote.

Once tweeted, the Nile photo captured the attention of many, attracting many comments praising its beauty; the photo garnered 6,727 favorites and 4,825 retweets 15 hours after posting.

The National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE) website said on Tuesday that the photo was captured from a distance of 300 miles, at the International Space Station speed of 17,154 miles/hour, which means that Kelly passed by this area in one minute.

This is not the first time for Kelly to tweet a photo for the Egyptian Nile; in his 121st day, he tweeted “Day 121. The Nile at night is like a jewel.”

Also, on Sept. 4, in his 161st day, he tweeted a photo for Egypt’s Red Sea, describing it as“very blue.”
