Sisi meets World Economic Forum head in NY

CAIRO: Egypt’s progress will be taken into consideration in an upcoming report of international competitiveness by the World Economic Forum, WEF director Klaus Schwab told President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on the first day of the president’s stay in New York City, the presidency announced Friday.

Schwab told Sisi that Egypt had made progress since the WEF meeting in Davos in January, adding that the country’s relative stability would be taken into account.

Sisi stressed the importance of cooperation with the forum in light of the upcoming WEF meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh scheduled for May 2016.

The two also discussed investment opportunities in Egypt, including the development of the Suez Canal zone project, the presidency added.

Schwab called for Egypt’s participation in the Davos meeting scheduled for January 2016.
