CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi called for an international solution to end escalating attacks on the Al-Aqsa mosque in a Saturday meeting with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in New York City, the presidency announced.
Last Saturday, in a news conference with Donald Tusk, the head of the European Union Council, Sisi said the events in Aqsa are ” serious violation of Islamic sanctities.”
Al-Azhar, the primary center of Sunni Islamic scholarship in the world, also released a statement last week announcing its solidarity with the “murabeeen,” the Palestinians who resist the “Judaization” of Jerusalem.
President Sisi is scheduled to meet with a number of world leaders in NYC, as well as with investors in Egypt, and heads of American companies operating in Egypt, the presidency added.
