CAIRO: Youm7, the largest news site Egypt, has launched a site dedicated to the coverage of the upcoming parliamentary elections, parlmany.com.
The editorial team announced they aim to provide intensive coverage of the voting phases, coverage of plenary meetings, and up-to-the-minute coverage and analysis of the work of the parliament.
A total of 27 million Egyptians are eligible to cast their votes in the first phase of the parliament elections due to be kick off Oct. 17, announced the High Elections Commission (HEC) chairperson Omar Marwan Saturday.
A total of 136 Egyptian embassies and consulates around the world will be hosting the expats’ voting process, Marwan previously announced.

In the first phase, some 2,573 independent candidates, including 112 women, will be competing for 226 seats, while six party lists will be competing for 60 seats, for a total of 286.
Run-off elections of the first phase will be carried out Oct. 26 and 27 for expats and Oct. 27 and 28 inside Egypt. Meanwhile, run-offs in the second round will be held Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 for expats, and Dec. 1 and 2 in Egypt.
