CAIRO: Cairo-based Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Al-Araby called Tuesday for a U.N. resolution to put an end to Israeli violations in Jerusalem against the Palestinians, Youm7 reported.

“With this escalation, a U.N. resolution shall be issued to protect the Palestinians,” Al-Araby said in an urgent meeting on the latest Israeli escalations in Jerusalem.

“Israel continues implementing plans to change the status of the Noble Sanctuary through an unprecedented and fierce attack resulting in dozens of martyrs; it is flagrant challenge to international laws and norms and the will of the international community,” he said.

Araby added that President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, the current Chief of the Arab Summit, sent the AL a report on the situation of the Palestinians.

“Israel is doing brutal actions are not only directed to the Palestinian people, but it is also addressed to the contemporary international system as a whole, and leads to serious violations,” he continued.

The UAE also called for emergency meeting on the ministerial level on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The latest wave of confrontations broke out since the beginning of October due to the Israeli forces and settlers’ violations to the Nobel Sanctuary and mutual stabbing attacks between both sides. In Aug. 31, PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat accused Israel of trying, via its repeated violations, to divide the Nobel Sanctuary into two parts: one for Jews and the other for the Muslims.

The total number of Palestinians killed during the confrontations and mutual knife attacks reached 20 persons and more than 230 others were injured; meanwhile the number of the Israelis killed in knife attacks is four.
