BERLIN: An elephant that escaped from a German circus and killed a man over the weekend has been relocated to a German safari park.

The 34-year-old African elephant named “Baby” on Saturday killed a 65-year-old man who was walking in the woods near Buchen, in southwestern Germany. Police said Monday they were still investigating whether someone forgot to close the elephant’s cage or if she was intentionally released.

It’s still not clear why Baby attacked the man.

Safari Park Stukenbrock spokeswoman Susanna Stubbe says Baby is being kept away from the public but is now living with three other elephants and “her socialization is going well.” Stubbe says the park in northwestern Germany already has two other elephants from a circus that folded last year.
