CAIRO: Thirteen parcels of explosives made in the U.S. were received at Cairo Airport Thursday to be used in oil exploration and extraction in Egypt, Youm7 reported.

The 66-kilogram parcels arrived on a Lufthansa flight departing from the U.S. with transit in Germany. The load will be transferred to Matrouh for exploration in the Western Desert.

Minister of Petroleum Tarek al-Mulla said during a Wednesday press conference that Egypt will soon announce new discoveries of oil and gas fields as several exploration missions are already underway.

Egypt will announce bidding for gas exploration in its Mediterranean waters in the first half of 2016, head of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding company Khaled Abdel Badie told Reuters Oct. 6.

After Italian Eni announced a massive gas field in the sea in August, Egypt produced four new licenses to explore for oil and gas in its territorial waters.
