CAIRO: Al Ahly won the 2015 Egyptian Super Cup after beating arch-rivals Zamalek 3-2 in a match held Thursday at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Zamalek’s Omar Gaber scored for Zamalek in the 26th minute of the first half while Abdallah al-Sayeed equalized through a penalty kick for Al-Ahly in the first half in additional time.

In the 33rd minute of the first half, Ahly’s goal keeper Sherif Ekramy blocked a penalty from Mahmoud Kahraba.

In the first five minutes of the second half, Ahly’s al-Sayeed doubled through a second penalty giving Ahly a 2-1 lead before Momen Zakaria scored Ahly’s third goal with 20 minutes remaining.

Kahraba scored Zamalek’s second goal 10 minutes before the referee blew the whistle.

The audience, most of whom were Egyptians living in the UAE, nearly filled the 25,000-capacity Hazza bin Zayed stadium.

Al-Ahly is a leader in Egyptian Super Cup as the team won it eight times out of nine, since it was launched in 2001.
