CAIRO: Security forces banned a man from entering a polling station in Oseem district, north of Giza, as he insisted to enter on his donkey.
El-Sayed Mahmoud headed off to his polling station located in Sayda School to cast the ballot on the first day of parliament elections in Egypt.

Mahmoud said he took his donkey because he was coming from the farm and he was “afraid the donkey would be stolen.”
Forces stopped him outside the polling station and prevented him from entering unless without his donkey.
The same incident occurred with two elder men; one in Giza and another in Beni Suef.

Giza is one of 14 governorates hosting the first phase of the elections. A total of 500 candidates in Giza are competing for 37 seats.
There are a total of 6.4 million eligible voters in Giza, who will cast their ballot in 2219 sub-polling stations.
