CAIRO: The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and acting FIFA President Issa Hayatou will arrive in Egypt to take part in the CAF Executive Committee meeting, slated to be held in Cairo Wednesday to conduct consultations on the FIFA presidency elections.

The Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sport Khaled Abdel Aziz along with other officials will be present during the meeting which will take place at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Al Masry Al Youm reported.

Hayatou will be coming to Cairo from Zurich after attending the Tuesday extraordinary FIFA Executive Committee meeting following the suspension of its president Sepp Blatter. The committee is scheduled to discuss possibility to postpone the FIFA presidential election scheduled for Feb. 26, 2016.

Being the longest-serving vice-president on FIFA’s Executive Committee, Hayatou was automatically appointed as FIFA acting president after Sepp Blatter and UEFA chief Michel Platini were both suspended for 90 days over corruption charges on Sept. 9.

The FIFA set Oct. 26 as deadline for submission of candidates for the office of FIFA President before the elections are held in February.
