CAIRO: A dust storm swept through the Upper Egypt’s governorate of Aswan Tuesday evening causing power cuts and low visibility on the roads, Youm7 reported.
The governorate has declared a state of emergency closing the roads and halting sailing boat (felucca) trips on the Nile and fishing in the Lake Nasser until the weather is stable.
Fishing boats were warned of high wind speeds and civil protection agencies increased the state of alert, an official at the Aswan governorate told Youm7 Tuesday.
No damage in local properties or casualties has been reported.
According to Egypt’s Meteorological Authority, the storm will continue in Aswan for another two days.
