CAIRO: A cooperation protocol was signed Thursday by Cairo Governor Galal Saeed and a number of construction companies to maintain and renovate a number of schools in the governorate, Youm7 reported.
The Ministry of Education has also embarked on maintenance works at Egyptian schools included in a development plan to be finalized Nov. 22. The maintenance plan includes simple and comprehensive repairing of an unspecified number of schools.
In March, a total of 147 schools across the country were closed over fears of risks on students due to “maintenance issues,” as many of the school buildings were reported as dilapidated.
In 2014, at least two students were killed at governmental schools due to what was slammed by the media as “negligent” school maintenance.
