CAIRO: Egyptian International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr met with Indian Ambassador to Cairo Sanjay Bhattacharyya Thursday to prepare for President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s visit to New Delhi to participate in the India-Africa Forum Summit scheduled for Oct. 26-29.

During the meeting, Nasr stressed the government’s keenness and interest in this important event due to its significant impact in the development of India’s relations African countries, according to Al Wafd newspaper.

“Being a bridge to mainland Africa for Indian investments, Egypt will help in furthering Indian cooperation projects in Africa,” Nasr was quoted by Al Wafd.

Heads of states and governments of over 40 African countries are scheduled to participate in the third round of the summit.

The Egyptian presidency has not yet issued any statements regarding Sisi’s visit to India but several Indian media outlets have reported his scheduled presence during the summit.

Previously, Sisi sent his representative to India for attending the Summit. However, he reportedly changed the decision after his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Modi on the sidelines of 70th UN General Assembly in New York last month, according to InSerbia Network Foundation.
