CAIRO: The Ain Sokhna Port for the transfer of containers was closed Sunday at 9 a.m. due to due to bad weather, lack of visibility caused by a dust storm, the Red Sea Ports Authority spokesperson Abdel Raheem Mostafa told Youm7.

A wave of unstable weather accompanied by low temperatures and active winds and heavy rains has hit several parts of Egypt, particularly the Mediterranean city of Alexandria where at least seven people were killed after being electrocuted when a power cable of a tram fell in rain water flooding the streets, Youm7 reported.

The victims were reportedly sheltering from rain near the tram in Moharam Beek St. A horse was also reportedly killed in the accident.

A dust storm swept through the Upper Egypt’s governorate of Aswan Tuesday evening causing power cuts and low visibility on the roads, Youm7 reported.

Meteorologists expect the unstable weather to last till Wednesday.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Sinai and in the Red Sea, as well as in the southern part of the country.
