CAIRO: Egypt’s Meteorological Authority (EMA) warned all governorates Monday about a fierce wave of weather expected to sweep nationwide Tuesday to Friday.

Mediterranean cities of Alexandria, Marsa Matrouh and South and North Sinai will witness heavy rainwater that could become torrents, EMA spokesperson Waheed Saeed told ON T.V. Monday. It is expected that Upper Egypt governorates could see rains, he added.

The peak temperature in Cairo will be Wednesday, recording 21 °C at day and 16 °C at night, Saeed continued, advising the people of wearing warming cloths.

On Oct. 25, Alexandria saw a harsh wave of weather accompanied with heavy rains inundating streets; at least five people were killed due to heavy rains and thunder striking.

Following the flooding crisis, Alexandria Governor Hani el-Messiry submitted his resignation and another governor took over the position.
