CAIRO: A student was found dead following a pro-Muslim Brotherhood (MB) protest in the Delta governorate of Sharqia Friday, Aswat Masrya reported.
Head of Sharqia investigation dept. Major general Atef Mahran told Aswat Masrya Friday that the 23-year-old student was killed by a birdshot fired at him from the direction of a pro-Muslim Brotherhood protest at Sharqia’s Diarb Negm town.
After the Friday prayer, dozens of pro-MB in Diarb Negm have staged a protest in support of ousted Islamist President Mohamed Morsi, Mahran said, adding they chanted anti-army slogans and clashed with the police before some of the protesters were arrested.
Several powers affiliated with the Brotherhood, including the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, have called for nationwide protests on Friday in response to a criminal court upholding the death sentence of Morsi Tuesday.
Brotherhood officials condemned the judge’s rulings on social media.
Other districts of Cairo including Matarya witnessed clashes between security forces and dozens of pro-Muslim Brotherhood who also clashed with residents, according to Youm7.
