‘Make Egypt Happy’ launched to organize open-air iftar for low-income citizens

CAIRO: The Specialized Gardens Project launched “Make Egypt Happy” campaign to organize Iftar gatherings for low-income citizens at public gardens, Youm7 reported Sunday.

Muslim worldwide fast during the month of Ramadan from dawn, breaking their fast at dusk in an Iftar meal.

“A total of 28 parks in Cairo will be opened to receive low-income citizens for Iftar gathering through the entire holy month, with an entrance fee of no more than 3 EGP ($0.39,)” public relations manager of the project Shehap el-Maity told Youm7.

Maity told Al-Ahram the campaign is a way to break the routine Iftar and to encourage citizens to gather and eat at green landscapes.

He added that people come to parks with their food to enjoy eating in the open air; adding that ten of the designated gardens overlook the Nile River.
