CAIRO: A protocol on recycling used cooking oil into diesel oil has been signed by Minister of Supply Khaled Hanafy Alexandria Company for Petroleum Additives (ACPA,) Youm7 reported Monday.
The protocol states that Ministry of Supply will collect used cooking oils from citizens, traders and distributors in return for points to be exchanged with free foods. The oil will then be delivered to ACPA to turn it into biodiesel.
“The project was applied in Port Said governorate last December and was highly successful,” Youm7 reported Hanafy as saying Monday.
He added that 10 young men were trained at the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport in Port Said on the process of transforming cooking oil into biodiesel, and five machines have allocated for them.
The environment-friendly project aims to increase the family’s supply, offer job opportunities, and produce diesel oil at a low cost, according to Hanafy.
