CAIRO:Two Egyptians were arrested in Delta’s governorate of Gharbia for allegedly joining the Syrian Free Army (SFA), security source told Youm7 Wednesday.
The defendants were arrested upon returning from Syria where they were recruited and trained to carry out terrorist attacks in Egypt, the source said.
During the tenure of former President Mohamed, the two defendants have travelled to Turkey and stayed there for 40 days; then they entered into the Syrian territories where they joined the SFA, the source said.
After being investigated, the two defendants were sentenced to 15 days in jail for further probes.=
The Free Army is a group of Syrian military personnel defected from President Bashar al-Assad’s army few months after the Syrian uprising broke out in 2011.
