CAIRO: Al-Azhar, Egypt’s top Islamic institution has condemned the Tuesday’s “terrorist” attack on a UAE aid convoy in Mogadishu in Somalia, Youm7 reported.
In a Thursday statement, Al-Azhar renewed its “rejection to all shapes of terrorism, murder and intimidation” and that “Islam disclaims what those deviant gangs commit.”
Al-Azhar, the most prestigious Sunni institution in the Islamic world, also called on the international community to take an action to eliminate these gangs. It further called on Arab and Islamic countries to unite in order to help Somalia “exit its suffering of economic and security deterioration, as well as tribal struggle.”
Tuesday’s attack, caused by a suicide car-bomber, killed at least nine people most of whom are Somali civilians, according to AFP. Somalia’s Al Shabaab insurgents claimed its responsibility for the attack.
