CAIRO: Several attacks hit Egyptian governorates Tuesday, killing at least five amid tight security measures taken on the day marking the second anniversary of the June 30, 2013 mass protests, according to Youm7.

In the 6 October City south of Cairo, three people were killed in their own car bomb after the vehicle hit a speed bump within the perimeter of a police station.

A policeman was killed and another injured after unknown assailants opened fire outside a wax museum in Helwan in Southern Cairo.

Upper Egypt’s governorate of Beni Suef witnessed two attacks Tuesday; policeman Emad Rabei was killed and four others were injured after masked men shot fire on a checkpoint in Beba town.

Also in Beni Suef, two sound bombs went off in; one in the vicinity of a police station and another in the center of the Beni Suef city.

A civilian was injured and hospitalized after an explosive device detonated near the Civil Affairs Department building in Fayoum city, southwest of Cairo.

Meanwhile in Qalubiya governorate, located north of Cairo, an explosive device planted near a bank was neutralized by bomb squad forces, which were deployed to the site in search for potential bombs.

In a separate incident in Qalubiya’s city of Banha, three security personnel were injured after bombs detonated below three transmission towers.

An armed attack took place in Alexandria; a number of masked men opened heavy fire on security personnel at a police station gate. The attack left no injuries, but damaged the station’s façade.
