CAIRO: A Kurdish channel broadcast a video Wednesday showing an Egyptian national, allegedly fighting with the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria, surrendered to the Kurdish troops in the Syrian-Turkish border town of Ain al-Arab.

According to the video, the Egyptian and other IS militants have reportedly infiltrated into the town, disguising themselves as Kurdish soldiers before they have reportedly killed dozens of Ain al-Arab residents including women, children and elderly.

The man said he is from Cairo and that he belonged to an IS-affiliated brigade called Almoravids.

During the past few years, several individuals from Egypt and other countries have been recruited by IS group. Some of the Egyptian nationals had reportedly joined the group in Syria via travelling through Turkey.

In May, Cairo International Airport authorities barred eight Egyptians from travelling to Turkey per security measures.

On May 17, Two Egyptians were arrested in the Delta governorate of Dakahlia for allegedly recruiting youth for the IS, Youm7 reported. A total of 16 young men were recruited by the arrested defendants. One of the defendants, 21, was arrested upon his return from Syria.
