CAIRO: Resolving the Palestinian issue will eliminate one of the most important reasons why people join “terrorist organizations,” President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi Sisi told the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Monday, according to a presidential statement.

Sisi met a delegation from AJC in Cairo to discuss Egyptian-US relations; the meeting was attended by Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and the delegation’s head Stanley Bergman.

He added that international guarantees should be provided to grow hope inside the Palestinians, through establishing an independent state and encouraging the Israeli leaders to achieve peace.

The President tackled how “terrorism” has spread, not only in the Middle East, but also African countries, using religion as means to reach their goals, according to the statement.

The international community should concert efforts to combat “terrorism,” Sisi told the delegation.

For its part, the U.S. delegation offered condolences over the victims of July 1 attacks in North Sinai, expressing their “full solidarity” towards Egypt in “countering terrorism,” said presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef.

AJC emphasized the importance of promoting strategic Egyptian-U.S. relation and developing it politically, economically and militarily.
