CAIRO: Egypt has strongly condemned the “brutal attack” that targeted Asir Region in southeast of Saudi Arabia Thursday, killing 15 people, said Egyptian spokesperson of Foreign Ministry Badr Abdel-Atty in a statement.
Egypt voiced its support to Saudi Arabia against “terrorism,” calling for concerting world efforts to iron out “this threat,” according to Abdel Atty, who offered Egyptians’ condolences to the victims’ relatives.
A suicide bomber blew himself up among people praying at a mosque in Asir, killing 15 including security personnel, said Saudi Ministry of Interior.
The Islamic Stat group has announced its responsibility for the attack, Reuters reported.
In May, two attacks targeted Shiite worshippers in Qatif governorates, located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, killing at least 25 people and injuring dozens.
