CAIRO: Families whose home were damaged by the car bomb which exploded outside the homeland security building last week will be paid 5,000 EGP ($700) each in monetary compensation, Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali announced Friday.
During her Friday visit to the scene explosion, Wali had visited several families to inspect the extent of damage incurred by the explosion, state news agency MENA reported. At least 55 residential apartments were damaged in the explosion.
Wali also directed nongovernmental organizations to supply the affected families with basic needs and provide them with temporary apartments within the neighborhood.
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab had also visited the scene Friday and assigned the Arab Contractors Company to carry out restoration of the building and other buildings affected by the explosion.
On Thursday, an explosion rocked the homeland security building at Shubra el-Khema, south of Egypt’s Delta governorate of Qalyubia leaving at least 29 injured, including six policemen.
On Friday, Qalyubia governor Mohamed Abdel Zaher has also allocated 2,000 EGP for each injury in compensation, Youm7 reported.
The 1809 palace of Mohamed Ali in Shubra el-Khema, located nearby the homeland security building, was also damaged by the explosion.
