CAIRO: The Administrative Court in Cairo has accepted Saturday a lawsuit to cancel former tourism minister’s decision to evacuate and withdraw the privately-owned beach cabins of Al-Montaza district in Alexandria, Youm7 reported.
In October 2014, Egypt’s former Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazoua ordered the evacuation of hundreds of cabins stretching along six Alexandria beaches including those of Nefertiti, Aida and Semiramis. All of the cabins are rented by contracts.
Most of the cabins owned by Mubarak-era figures were not included in Zaazoua’s decision.
The decision resulted in continuous conflict between the renters and Al-Montazah Company for Tourism and Investment. Several owners of the cabins resorted to the court to stop Zaazoua’s decision and filed complaints to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi demanding his intervention in the issue.
