CAIRO: A policeman shot himself in the head due to what investigations concluded as psychological and social pressures, Youm7 reported Saturday.

Mostafa Badawy, 35, a policeman at Port Security in Port Said city committed suicide Friday inside his room at a training center.

Forensic officials examining the body said that a bullet, fired into his head and exit, caused the death.

A report on the incident was drafted denying any “criminal suspicion” to have taken place.

Egypt is among the least states with suicide rates recording 1.7 (indicating both sexes) per 100,000 according to World Health Organization in 2012. The statistics showed female suicide rates higher with 2.4, while male suicide rate recorded 1.2.

In June, a university student committed suicide Saturday by throwing himself off the Cairo Tower, due to “suffering mental disorder,” according to his father.
