Beheira school principal dies of heart attack while observing elections

CAIRO: A principal of a school in coastal governorate of Beheira died Sunday of a heart attack while monitoring the first day of parliamentary elections, Youm7 reported.

Magdy Awad, head of the Abu el-Sheqaf Primary School, reportedly suffered a sudden health crisis Sunday morning at a polling station, in which he was observing the first voting day in the governorate. The school includes a total of three polling stations.

Awad is the first death case reported since the electoral process convened early Sunday morning.

The first phase of the electoral process kicked off in 14 governorates Sunday and set to continue Monday.

The number of eligible voters in Beheira is 3,528,484 citizens, who will cast their ballots at 1737 sub-polling stations.
