CAIRO: Cairo International Airport received a shipment of radioactive isotopes to be used in cancer treatment from Turkey under tight security, Youm7 reported Friday.
The consignment in 44 parcels weighed 476 kilograms, and was allowed into the country amid heavy security and after an examination by a delegate from the International Atomic Energy Agency to make sure they met radiation limits. The shipment is imported by a private company working in the field.
Similar shipments have previously arrived in Cairo for the same medical purposes.
In January, the airport received 11 parcels including radioactive isotopes weighing 120 kg coming from the Netherlands, and another shipment weighing 49 kg from Iran.
