CAIRO: An Egypt-based affiliate of the Islamic State (IS) group has claimed responsibility for the Friday bomb attack that wounded four people nearby Giza Pyramids, Youm7 reported.
In its statement circulated on social media Saturday, IS said it had set off the Cairo bomb to target the police forces.
A police officer was injured while detonating the bomb which was dealt with by bomb squad forces that detonated it remotely.
During the operation, the officer was injured by shrapnel in his shoulder; he was then taken to the hospital for treatment and his current status is stable.
Youm7 reported through an eyewitness that the bomb was placed inside a hotel in Giza’s district of al-Haram, and that six civilians were injured.
