CAIRO: Members of the Egyptian Cabinet have arrived at the Ittihadiya Palace in Heliopolis Monday to meet with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.
Sisi ordered the meeting Sunday evening over the poor handling of rain water in Alexandria; the flooded streets of the governorate resulted in several cars and ground-floor apartments being inundated.
Further, seven people were killed after a tram power cable fell into the water in a street, killing 7 people by electric shock.
Minister of Solidarity Ghada Waly announced it would pay 10,000 EGP ($1,245) in compensation to the family of each of the seven victims.
She further added that the ministry will provide tents and accommodation for those who need for temporary basis.
Outgoing Alexandria Governor Hany al-Meseiry resigned Sunday after the deaths.
